The crop is ready about 1 month after sowing of radish. It can be cultivated throughout the year. It is included in the vegetables with edible roots. Many nutrients are found in it like vitamin B6 , calcium, copper, magnesium, potassium, folic acid etc.

• The friable and sandy loam soils are best for its cultivation.

• The pH level of the soil should be 5.5 to 6.8 for a good crop.

• For good production of radish, cool climate is required.

• The optimum temperature for its cultivation is 10-15 degree Celsius.

• It can also be cultivated in hot temperatures.

Correct amount of seed, seed treatment and yield

• According to different varieties, 2 to 4 kg of seed is required per acre of field.

• Per kg seed should be treated with 2.5 gm Thiram.

• The average yield of radish is 80 quintals per acre of field.

farm preparation

• Radish roots go deep into the soil. Therefore, once deep plowing of the field must be done.

• After this, do light plowing 3 to 4 times by cultivator or native plow.

• After plowing, plant a pad in the field.

Fertilizer and weed control

• For good yield, mix 80-100 quintals of decomposed cow dung per acre of land at the time of tillage.

• Mix 40 kg of Nitrogen, 20 kg of Phosphorous and 40 kg of Potash per acre of field.

• Spray 20 kg of nitrogen at the time of sowing of the field and 20 kg at the time of plant growth.

• To control weeds, weeding should be done 2 to 3 times.

• Spraying of 250-300 liters of water per acre with 1 liter of Pendimethalin within 2-3 days of sowing gives relief from weeds.

irrigation and harvesting

• Give first irrigation after sowing.

• Irrigation should be done at an interval of 6-7 days during summer season.

• Irrigate at an interval of 10 to 12 days in cold weather.

• Radish crop is ready for digging 40 to 50 days after sowing.
