fig cultivation
लेखक : Lohit Baisla
Figs are successfully cultivated in our country in some areas of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. If you also want to cultivate it, then see the information about the preparation of the field, irrigation, harvesting of fruits etc. from here.
Field preparation and planting method
-
First of all, remove the weeds from the field by deep plowing the field once.
-
After this, do light plowing 2-3 times in the field and make the soil level.
-
Now prepare pits 1 meter wide and 1 meter deep in the field.
-
Keep a distance of about 8 meters between all the pits.
-
After keeping it open for a few days, put about 20 kg of cow dung in all the pits.
-
To avoid various diseases and pests, fill the pits by mixing neem cake with cow dung manure.
-
Now transplant the plants in all the pits prepared.
Fertilizers and Irrigation
-
For small plants, use 5-7 kg of cow dung per plant.
-
Large plants require 15 to 20 kg of cow dung per year.
-
Fig plants do not require much irrigation.
-
Irrigate at 15 to 20 days interval during summer season.
Fruit harvesting and production
-
It should be harvested when the fruit is ripe.
-
Harvest the fruit with short stalks. This reduces the risk of fungus in the fruits.
-
A fully grown tree yields 25 to 30 kg of fruits.
