right time of sowing
For cultivation in Kharif season, it should be sown in June-July.
If you want to cultivate in summer season, sow in January-February.
Field preparation and sowing method
For good germination, make the soil friable by doing 1 deep plowing and 2-3 light plowing of the field.
After plowing, make beds in the field at a distance of about 30 to 40 cm.
Sow the seeds at a distance of 10 to 15 cm and a depth of about 3 cm.
manures and fertilizers
At the time of last tillage, add 200 kg of cow dung per acre of land.
For good crop, mix 12 kg of nitrogen, 16 kg of phosphorus and 8 kg of potash per acre of field.
For good yield, after 30-35 days of sowing, spray 12 kg of nitrogen per acre of land.
Irrigation is not required for its cultivation in Kharif season.
If cultivated in Rabi and summer season, give irrigation at the time of flowering and fruit formation.
Irrigation should be done 1 to 2 times when there is no rain.
Manage proper drainage. Do not allow water logging in the field due to excessive rainfall.
Remove weeds by weeding and hoeing 15-20 days after sowing.
Before sowing, mix 400 grams of basalin in 400 liters of water per acre and apply it in the field. This controls weeds.
