• Scorch disease: This disease is caused by a fungus called Basicinarium. In this disease the leaves start scorching. Spray Dithane M45 to avoid scorching disease.

• Plant rot disease: Plants affected by this disease start wilting. For prevention, treat seed with 2 gm Thiram 0.2% per kg of seed.

• Purple spot: This is a fungal disease caused by a fungus called Alternaria porai. In this disease white, red and purple spots are formed. Tubers of plants affected by this disease rot.

• Soft pubescent Asita: Yellow spots appear on the leaves. The parts affected by this disease dry up and the size of the tuber becomes small. To avoid this, per kg seed should be treated with 2.5 gm Kapton or Thiram. Apart from this, spraying can also be done by mixing 2.5 kg Indofil M45 in 1,000 liters of water per hectare of land.

• Onion fly (maggot): This type of insect feeds on the soft part by piercing the stem of onion and damages the crop. Spraying of Cypermenthrin 0.15 percent in 600 liters of water per hectare of field should be done.
