Introduction of the scheme- Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a crop insurance scheme made by the Central Government in the direction of the farmer's interest by reducing the premium amount payable by the farmer according to the crop, which was started on 18 February 2016.

Purpose- The objective of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is to provide financial assistance to farmers suffering from crop loss/damage due to unforeseen developments and to strengthen the income of farmers so that they can continue their agricultural work. Therefore, to ensure such credit flow in agriculture, which in addition to protecting the farmers from production risk, paves the way for food security, crop diversification, rapid growth and competitiveness related to the agriculture sector.
