To get better yield of litchi, it is very important to control various pests. One of these is the leaf wrapping insect ie leaf roller. Its outbreak occurs between the months of July to February. The maximum number of larvae are found in litchi tree before flowering i.e. between December and February. • Affected trees produce very less flowers, which directly affects the yield.

• The female moth lays eggs on the underside of new or tender leaves.

• The larvae hatch from the eggs within about 2 to 8 days.

• The leaves of the tree affected by this pest become twisted.

• As the infestation progresses, the leaves begin to wither.

preventive measures

• Break and destroy the leaves on which eggs and larvae are seen.

• After plucking infected leaves , apply 4 kg castor and 1 kg neem cake per tree.

• Apart from this, install pheromone traps in the garden.

• Spray with 1 ml allanto or karate per liter of water.

• Apart from this, 1 ml Regent SC per liter of water. Mixing can also be sprayed.

• Control of leaf roller can also be achieved by spraying by mixing 2 grams of jump in 15 liters of water.

• Repeat the spraying process at an interval of few days as per requirement.
