• Mentha is harvested twice.

• The first harvesting is done at the time of flowering of the plants i.e. about 100 to 120 days after sowing.

• The month of May-June is best suited for the first harvesting.

• Second harvesting is done 60 - 70 days after the first harvesting. Second harvesting is done in the month of August-September.

• It is very important to harvest the plants at the right time. Premature harvesting results in low menthol content. On the other hand, if there is a delay in harvesting, the amount of oil decreases.

• Plants should be cut at a height of about 4 to 5 cm from the ground surface.

• After harvesting the plants, keep them in open sunlight for 2 to 3 hours.

• After this the harvested crop should be dried lightly in the shade.
