Keep radish crop free from diseases and pests

Radish is a good source of vitamin C and minerals. In India, it is mainly cultivated in Bihar, West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat , Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. It is very important to protect the crop from various diseases and pests. So should know about some diseases and pests that damage the radish crop.

  • Chepa: This pest causes great damage to the crop. This pest can be controlled by spraying by mixing 1 ml Malathion 50 EC in one liter of water.

  • Mahu: These small insects suck the juice of leaves and turn them yellow. To avoid the infestation of this pest, mix 2 ml Malathion in one liter of water and spray it.

  • Black ladybug and leaf weevil: If infestation of these pests is observed, mix 1 ml Malathion 50 EC in one liter of water and spray it 2 to 3 times at an interval of 10 days.

  • Hairy caterpillar: It damages the crop by eating the leaves. Control of this pest can be found by spraying 20 to 25 kg Malathion 10% per hectare of land.

  • Withering: Yellow spots are formed on the leaves of plants affected by this disease. This reduces the growth of plants. Spraying should be done by mixing 2 gm Mancozeb and 1 gm Carbendazim per liter of water.

  • Alternaria blight: In this disease, dark black spots are formed on the leaves. To control this disease, spray 2.5 grams of Mancozeb per liter of water.
