Improved varieties of cantaloupe

There are many varieties of melons cultivated in different regions of India. There are many such advanced and hybrid varieties of melon, by cultivating which you can get more production.   • Pusa Rasraj: This is one of the hybrid varieties. Its fruits are smooth and oval. The weight of the fruit varies from 800 g to 1 kg. The pulp of this type of melon is sweet. It takes 75 to 80 days for the fruits to mature. The yield ranges from 90 to 100 quintals per acre of field.

  • Punjab Hybrid: This variety is suitable for cultivation in Punjab, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Before this they are medium sized and round. The weight of the fruit is about 800 grams. The flesh of the fruits of this variety is orange in colour. The fruits are sweet, juicy and delicious. Up to 64 quintals of fruits can be obtained per acre of field.

  • MH10: Plants of this variety are medium sized. Each moment weighs about 900 grams. Its pulp is thick and light white in color. The stems are round and oval. About 96 quintals of fruits can be obtained by cultivating per acre of land.

  • Hisar Madhur: This is one of the early varieties. Its fruits are dark red in colour. The fruits have stripes. The pulp of the fruit is fragrant and orange in colour. Fruits can be harvested after 75 to 80 days.
