Various measures are taken to avoid the crops from locust infestation. Sometimes some remedies are adopted to avoid locusts and sometimes insecticides have to be resorted to to avoid their infestation.

Use of insecticides:

• In case of locust infestation, you can spray Bioneem at 500 ml per acre of land.

• Apart from this, 550 ml Chlorpyriphos 20% EC can also be sprayed per acre of land.

• If you want, you can also spray 150 ml Lamdasalothrin 5% EC per acre of land.

• These locusts can also be avoided by spraying neem oil on the plants.

Some other remedies :

• To drive away the locusts, burn neem leaves around your field and smoke it. Although this remedy has not proved effective every time, but still some farmers have got relief from the smoke of neem leaves.

• Garlic oil has also been found to be effective in warding off locusts.

• It is also being said to avoid locusts through sound. You can also drive away these locusts by playing drums, drums, thali, drums etc. But there is no concrete evidence to drive away locusts by this measure.
