Field preparation for lentil cultivation

Lentils are cultivated during the Rabi season. It is rich in protein, calcium, iron, etc. Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are the main producing states. Soil

  • It can be cultivated in almost all types of soils i.e. from loamy soil to heavy soil.

  • Cultivate in sandy loam and loamy soil for good yield.

Seed quantity

  • About 12 kg of seed is required for cultivating small grain varieties per acre of land.

  • If large grain varieties are to be cultivated per acre of field, then about 16 kg of seed will be required.

farm preparation

  • While preparing the field, do the first plowing with soil turning plow.

  • After this 2 to 3 times plowing with native plow or cultivator.

  • At the time of last tillage, add 6 to 8 tonnes of decomposed cow dung or composted manure per acre of field.

  • Apart from this, add 8 kg nitrogen, 16 kg phosphate and 8 kg sulfur per acre of field.

  • After plowing, make the soil of the field flat and fine-grained by putting a pad in the field.

  • After this, sow the seeds in the field at a distance of 10 cm.

  • Sow the seeds in rows. Keep a distance of 25 cm between the rows.
