In our country, fenugreek is mainly cultivated in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. About 80 percent of the total production of fenugreek is produced only in Rajasthan. It is cultivated for obtaining green leaves, dry leaves and seeds. Time of sowing

• In plains, fenugreek is sown in the months of October to November.

• In hilly areas it is sown from March to May.

• It is cultivated in both rabi and kharif seasons in the regions of South India like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

• The winter season is best for the cultivation of Kasuri fenugreek.

Seed quantity

• If you want to do normal fenugreek cultivation, then 8 to 10 kg of seed will be required per acre of land.

• If you are cultivating kasoori fenugreek then you will need 4 to 6 kg of seeds.

seed treatment method

• To get healthy and disease free seeds, always buy seeds from a certified fertilizer-seed store.

• Treat seed with 2 gm Bavistin per kg of seed.

• After that treat the seed with Rhizobium culture.

• Always keep in mind that first treat the seed with fungicide or insecticide, after that use a drug containing bacteria.

• Do not mix insecticides or fungicides with Rhizobium culture while seed treatment. By doing this the bacteria present in the culture are destroyed by the fungicide.
