Effect and control of root gland nematode in vegetable plants
लेखक : Pramod
Root gland nematodes are known in various places as root knot nematodes, root glands or nematodes. Its outbreak is highest in vegetables, fruits, oilseeds, pulses, paddy crops, fiber crops, medicinal plants and ornamental plants.
Symptoms
-
Due to this disease, the leaves of the upper part of the plants turn yellow and start withering.
-
Flowers and fruits are less in plants.
-
Plant growth stops.
-
Nodules form in the roots of plants. Many small roots start growing on these knots.
-
The roots of plants are unable to absorb the nutrients in the proper amount from the soil.
Control
-
In summer season, twice deep plowing should be done at an interval of 15 days. Due to this, the nematodes already present in the soil are destroyed due to strong sunlight.
-
In the fields where there is nematode infestation, spray 4 quintals of neem and karanj cakes per acre of land.
-
Using extracts of neem, datura and marigold leaves in the field reduces the number of root gland nematodes.
-
Adding about 10 kg Fipronil 0.3% g per acre of land can also get rid of nematodes.
-
Application of 250 gm Rootguard per acre of land at the time of sowing and field preparation or 15 to 20 days after sowing also provides effective control from nematode pest.
