When to irrigate?

  • Give first irrigation immediately after sowing of cumin.

  • Give second irrigation at the interval of 10 days after sowing. This makes germination easier.

  • Depending on the moisture content in the soil, if required, the third irrigation can be given at an interval of 8 to 10 days.

  • Irrigation is necessary at the time of grain formation.

  • Irrigation at the time of grain ripening helps in reducing seed weight. Therefore, at the time of ripening of grains, stop irrigation in the crop.

  • At the time of irrigation, take special care that the flow of water is not high.

  • By irrigating in a sharp stream, the seeds get carried away with the water and collect at one place.

  • Irrigate cumin crop with sprinkler method.
