Due to the cyclonic storm Yas arising in the Bay of Bengal, an alert has been issued in many states of the country along with Odisha and West Bengal. According to reports, this cyclonic storm is expected to hit the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal on 25 May 2021 and 26 May 2021.
Apart from Odisha and West Bengal, the effect of the storm can also be seen in Bihar, Jharkhand and many adjoining states. According to the India Meteorological Department, the speed of this cyclonic storm forming in the east-central region of the Bay of Bengal may intensify in the next 12 hours. This storm is likely to take a severe form in the coming 24 hours. This can cause great devastation.
Preparations have been started to deal with this cyclonic storm. National Disaster Response Force teams have been deployed in Odisha and West Bengal. Along with this, many aircraft of the Indian Air Force along with teams of National Disaster Response Force are deployed in Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Port Blair and nearby areas. Apart from this, 26 helicopters of the Air Force have also been kept on standby. Their help can be taken if needed. The Indian Navy is also fully prepared to deal with the Yas storm.
