Watermelon cultivation can be done successfully in plains or hilly areas, even on the banks of rivers. • Make the soil of the field friable and level.

• 26 kg of nitrogen, 22 kg of phosphorus and 16 kg of potash are required per acre of field.

• Use full quantity of potash and phosphorus and half quantity of nitrogen while preparing the field.

• Distribute the remaining nitrogen in 2 parts and spray it on the standing crop.

• After that prepare the beds in the field. There should be a distance of 2.5 to 3 meters between the beds.

• If farming is to be done on the banks of rivers, then prepare pits 60 cm wide and 60 cm deep. Fill these pits with equal quantity of cow dung, soil and sand.
