Carrot, which is most liked in the form of salad, can be cultivated in almost all regions of India. Before cultivating it, it is necessary to know some important things. If you want to cultivate it, then follow the things given in this post for better yield.
Suitable time for sowing carrot
Sow native varieties in the month of August to September.
Sow European and other exotic varieties in October-November month.
4 to 5 kg of seed is required per acre of land.
Soak the seeds in water for 12 to 24 hours before sowing. This makes germination easier.
For better yield of carrot, loamy soil or light loamy soil is best.
Soil H level should be 6.5 for high quality crop.
Before planting carrot, do deep ploughing once in the field.
After this, make the soil fine by plowing 2 to 3 times.
At the time of last plowing, mix well decomposed cow dung in the field.
Instead of cow dung manure, dung manure can also be used.
After that prepare the beds in the field.
Keep a distance of 45 cm between all the beds.
Planting should be done at a distance of 7 to 8 cm.
Do not allow water logging in the field where it is to be cultivated.
Irrigation and Weed Control
Give first irrigation immediately after sowing.
Do not let the soil lack moisture.
Irrigate at an interval of about 15 to 20 days.
Do not let weeds grow in the field.
To control weeds, keep weeding and hoeing at intervals of some time as per requirement.
