Bhindi is one of the popular vegetables. Bhindi is cultivated in almost all the districts of Madhya Pradesh. Apart from India, it is cultivated in many countries like Nigeria, Pakistan, Belgium, Egypt etc. By keeping these things in mind in the cultivation of okra, you can improve its yield.

  • Warm and moist environment is considered best for its cultivation.

  • The pH level of the soil should be between 6.5 to 7.5.

  • It is good to prepare the field by plowing 2 to 3 times.

  • It is advisable to do sowing in the month of February - March or June - July.

  • A distance of 15 to 20 cm should be kept between the plants. At the same time, a distance of about 25 to 30 cm should be kept between the beds.

  • To increase the yield of the crop, about 15 to 20 tonnes of cow dung should be sprayed per hectare of land.

  • Irrigation is not required during the rainy season as it rains.

  • Irrigation should be done every 10 to 12 days in the month of March. Irrigation is necessary every 7 to 8 days in April. On the other hand , due to high heat in the month of May-June, it is necessary to irrigate the plants at an interval of 4 to 5 days.
