Get grants for the food processing industry

In order to promote food processing products, the government has started a subsidy incentive scheme for food processing industries. Under this scheme, a grant i.e. subsidy is being provided by the government to the interested candidates. According to the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Narendra Singh Tomar, the Government of India has approved the Production Link Incentive Scheme for food processing industries with a budget of Rs 10,900 crore during the year 2021-22 to the year 2026-27.

To take advantage of this scheme, interested candidates have to apply through online mode. Applicants can apply for subsidy by visiting the official website of Ministry of Food Processing Industries. The thing to note here is that the application can be made only till 5:00 PM on 17th June 2021. Let us get to know in detail about this topic.

What is the objective of this scheme?

  • Promotion of Indian branded food products.

  • To increase employment opportunities for off-farm jobs.

  • To ensure remunerative prices of agricultural produce and higher income to the farmers.

Subsidy will be given for these products under this scheme?

  • Four food product segments have been included in this scheme.

  • Cook-to-ready/ready-to-eat foods including millet products as well as processed fruits and vegetables, marine products and mozzarella cheese.

  • Along with this, innovative / organic products of SMEs, including free range - eggs, poultry meat and egg products have also been included.

How much subsidy will be given under this scheme?

  • Under this scheme, subsidy at the rate of 50 percent will be given for the expenditure on branding and marketing abroad.

  • The minimum expenditure for overseas branding over a period of 5 years would be Rs 5 crore.

  • Maximum 3 percent of the sale of food products per year or Rs 50 crore (whichever is less)
