Do the cultivation of satavar in this way, there will be more profit

Satavar has a special place among medicinal plants. It is also called Shatavari. It is used in the manufacture of medicines. Yields from 2 to 3 quintals per acre of land. These days its price is also increasing along with its demand. Due to the increase in the price, the farmers cultivating it can earn more profit at less cost. If you also want to do the cultivation of satavar, then it is necessary to have suitable soil for its cultivation, method of preparation of the field, irrigation, weed control, etc. Let us get some important information related to the cultivation of Satavar.

Soil suitable for cultivation of Satwar

  • Red loamy soil with proper drainage is best for its cultivation.

  • Apart from this, it can be cultivated successfully in loamy to loamy soil.

  • The pH level of the soil should be 6 to 8.

Farm preparation and fertilizer management

  • First of all do deep plowing of the field once.

  • After this, make the soil fine by doing light plowing 2 to 3 times in the field.

  • Prepare bunds in the field after plowing.

  • Keep a distance of 60 cm between all the bunds. The height of the bunds should be 9 inches above the ground surface.

  • To get good crop, mix 120 kg of organic manure with 4 tonnes of compost per acre of field.

  • Along with this, 2 tonnes of earthworm manure can also be added per acre of field.

  • Satavar is a medicinal plant, so do not use chemical fertilizers in it.

Method of transplanting plants in the main field

  • For transplanting nursery grown plants, prepare pits 4-5 inches deep on the bunds.

  • Keep a distance of 60 cm between all the pits.

  • Transplant the nursery prepared plants in these pits.

Irrigation and Weed Control

  • Satavar plants do not require much irrigation.

  • Apply light irrigation to the field immediately after transplanting.

  • After this, irrigate regularly for a month at intervals of 4 to 6 days.

  • After a month the plants need irrigation once a week.

  • Weeding is the best option for weed control.

  • When weeds emerge in the field, weeding is done by hand or with the help of a hoe.
