Cultivate radish in this way, it will be less time to earn millions

Radish is widely cultivated among root vegetables. Its consumption is very beneficial for our health. It is most commonly used as a salad. Apart from this, many delicious dishes like pickles, vegetables, parathas, etc. are prepared from it. It is mainly cultivated in West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab, Assam. It can also be cultivated as co-cropping with other crops. Let us get some important information related to radish cultivation through this post.

Suitable time for radish cultivation

  • In hilly areas it is sown in the month of March to August.

  • In plains it is cultivated in the month of August-September.

  • Apart from this, it can be sown in the plains in the month of January-February also.

Suitable soil and climate

  • For better yield of radish, loamy soil and sandy loam soil is best.

  • The pH level of the soil should be 5.5 to 6.8.

  • Cold climate is required to get high quality crop.

  • The temperature of 10-15 degree centigrade is suitable for the growth of plants and roots.

  • Its plants can tolerate temperatures as low as 4 degrees and as high as 25 degrees centigrade.

Seed quantity and method of seed treatment

  • The amount of seed depends on the variety of radish.

  • Generally, 2 to 4 kg of seed is required for radish cultivation per acre of field.

  • Before sowing treat seed with 2.5 gm Thiram per kg of seed.

farm preparation method

  • Radish is a root crop. Well drained soil is required for good root development.

  • To make the soil friable, first do one deep plowing.

  • After this, do light plowing 3 to 4 times in the field.

  • At the time of last plowing add 80-100 quintals of cow dung manure per acre of land.

  • Apart from this, add 5 to 10 tonnes of slurry manure per acre of field.

  • Along with this, mix 170 kg urea, 96 kg single super phosphate and 40 kg murate of potash per acre of field.

  • After plowing the field prepare the beds in the field.

  • Sow the seeds at a depth of about 3 to 4 cm.
