Cultivate Kasuri fenugreek in this way, there will be abundant yield

Kasuri methi is also known as paan methi in different regions. It is cultivated in the cold season. More than the green leaves of Kasuri fenugreek, its dry leaves are also in demand. Due to its excellent aroma, it has a special place in the matters. The height of its plants is about 45 to 55 centimeters. Let us get detailed information on Kasuri fenugreek cultivation.

Suitable time for sowing

  • The time for sowing is suitable from October to November.

Seed quantity

  • For cultivation by spraying method, 40 kg seed is required per acre of land.

  • For row cultivation, 12 to 14 kg of seed is required per acre of land.

Suitable soil and climate

  • Loamy soil and sandy loam soil are most suitable for its cultivation.

  • Apart from this, it can also be successfully cultivated in loamy clay soil.

  • The soil should have abundant organic matter for better yield.

  • Moderate humid climate is best for its cultivation.

  • Kasuri fenugreek plants are tolerant to frost i.e. extreme cold.

  • First do deep plowing once. For deep plowing use earth turning plow.

  • After this, make the soil fine by doing light plowing 2 to 3 times.

  • After plowing the field must be planted.

  • At the time of last tillage, add 6 to 8 tonnes of cow dung or compost manure per acre of land.

  • Sow in row for better yield. Keep a distance of 20 to 25 cm between all the rows.

  • Plant to plant distance should be 5 to 8 cm.

  • Sow the seeds at a depth of about 2 cm.

Irrigation and Weed Control

  • Give first irrigation immediately after sowing.

  • Thereafter, irrigation is given at an interval of 10 to 15 days.

  • Apply light irrigation even after harvesting.

  • To control weeds, weeding is done at regular intervals.

  • The first harvest of the crop can be done about 1 month after sowing.

  • The crop can be harvested 4 to 6 times at an interval of every 10 to 15 days.

  • Harvest the plants from a height of 3 to 4 cm from the ground surface.

  • After harvesting the leaves should be dried for a few days.

  • To obtain seeds, stop harvesting after 4 to 6 harvests.

  • If the crop is harvested 5 times, 36 to 44 quintals of green leaves and 1.6 to 2.4 quintals of dry leaves are obtained per acre of land.
