Carrot: Prepare the field in this way for better yield

Carrots are widely cultivated among root crops. Apart from salad, vegetables, pickles, juices, pudding, raita, soup, jam, candy, etc. are prepared from carrots. Along with this, many types of cosmetics are also prepared from it. Being rich in many nutrients, it is very beneficial for our health. Due to its growing in the cold season, farmers cultivating it can get more profit in less time. Let us get through this post the suitable time for carrot cultivation, the quantity of seeds, the preparation of the field, etc. many important information.

suitable time of sowing

  • The month of August-September is suitable for sowing of native varieties of carrot.

  • European and other foreign varieties of carrot are sown in the month of October-November.

  • Seed quantity

  • For cultivation per acre of land, 4 to 5 kg of seed is required.

Suitable soil and climate

  • Light loam soil and sandy loam soil are suitable for better yield of carrot.

  • It should not be cultivated in heavy soil.

  • The H level of the soil should be 6.5 to 7.

  • Carrot crop requires cool climate.

  • 7 to 24 degree centigrade temperature is necessary for the deposition of seeds.

  • 16 to 21 degree centigrade temperature is suitable for the development of roots.

farm preparation method

  • Carrot is a root crop. For better development of the roots, the soil must be friable.

  • For this, first do deep plowing for 1 time.

  • After this, do light plowing 3 to 4 times with native plow or cultivator.

  • For better yield, mix 10 to 12 tonnes of well decomposed cow dung per acre of land.

  • Apart from this, add 20 kg nitrogen, 18 kg phosphorus and 20 kg potash per acre of field.

  • After plowing, to make the soil of the field friable and level, put a pat in the field.

  • Prepare the beds in the field for sowing the seeds.

  • Keep a distance of 45 cm between all the beds.

  • Sow the seeds at a distance of 7-8 cm.

Irrigation and Weed Control

  • Apply light irrigation immediately after sowing. This makes germination easier.

  • After this, irrigate 5-6 times at an interval of 15 to 20 days.

  • To control weeds, weeding is done as per requirement.
