According to a report, the age of these locusts is only 90 days. These locusts, capable of flying up to a height of about 5,000 feet in the air, can easily eat twice their weight. Before coming to India, this swarm of locusts has caused havoc in Africa. According to some reports, there has been a shortage of food in Africa after their invasion. Now the question arises in our mind that can there be a shortage of food in our country due to their attack , can we also be tempted for food grains? The answers to these questions will definitely give you some relief.
Food grains are stored in our country's food stores, which are maintained by the Food Corporation of India.
The locust infestation causes more damage to the Rabi crops. Farmers in the northwestern part of India have already harvested the Rabi crop.
The crop yield this year has increased as compared to last year.
The Government of India is adopting many other methods along with spraying of insecticides to avoid the attack of locusts.
Therefore, there is less chance of starvation or famine-like situation in our country right now. However, we cannot ignore that the locust swarm has destroyed the crops of many states.
